Fear of missing out

Keep yourself from the trap of social media. The fear of missing out it is an obstacle to our peace! Jesus wants us to have peace and it happens when we trust Him with our entire lives, especially our thought lives.

The eyes are the window to the soul, we’re told that our ears and eyes are a gateway to the deepest part of who we are, this is the place the enemy pokes us repeatedly and it brings a sense of discontentment.

When our eye balls are focused on a tiny little rectangular box called a cell phone, and a FOMO mindset, it blocks our vision from the most important things.

Gratitude of the goodness of God is blotted out by a shiny screen. And if we’re not careful, we’ll leave the most important Light of the world behind, Jesus.

Marketing banks on the fact that we will be distracted by world culture, and the fear of missing out. However, the power of the Holy Spirit, and the wisdom of God found in the word of God can break through the distractions of the world.

It’s interesting because thousands of years ago, wisdom was placed in the word of God about this condition, the fear of missing out.

Meditate and read slowly Matthew 6, I am sharing the message version because I think it really encompasses the wisdom of God over the consumerism of the world.

Matthew 6:19-26 MSG
“Don’t hoard treasure down here where it gets eaten by moths and corroded by rust or—worse!—stolen by burglars. Stockpile treasure in heaven, where it’s safe from moth and rust and burglars. It’s obvious, isn’t it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being. [22-23] “Your eyes are windows into your body. If you open your eyes wide in wonder and belief, your body fills up with light. If you live squinty-eyed in greed and distrust, your body is a musty cellar. If you pull the blinds on your windows, what a dark life you will have! [24] “You can’t worship two gods at once. Loving one god, you’ll end up hating the other. Adoration of one feeds contempt for the other. You can’t worship God and Money both. [25-26] “If you decide for God, living a life of God-worship, it follows that you don’t fuss about what’s on the table at mealtimes or whether the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to him than birds.

The beauty of scripture is how it articulates and gives us a vision for how God loves us and how He loves creation. Wouldn’t you so much rather be as free as an eagle instead of bound by what cultural norms say should be acquired, materialism at its’ core brings more chains than the freedom of a bird that trusts God will give us what we need.

Pause for a moment here and reread aloud Matthew 6: 19-26. Is there a message you feel in the stillness with God? You can use the notes app in your phone as a journal. I have heard this message! “Do you hear trust in Me, my child, I am your God and there is no one else?”

Now read Matthew 6: 30-34 it shares even deeper nuggets of gold wisdom. Meditate and read slowly aloud and take notes.

Matthew 6:30-34 MSG
“If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. [34] “Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.

Perhaps today reset your mind, and bring your thoughts captive to the Lord, as it says in Romans 12.

Romans 12:1-2 MSG
So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

Let God be your provision, give all your concerns to him. He wants to help you deal with whatever hard things come up he wants you to worship him over all things in this world.

1 Peter 5:4-7 MSG
When God, who is the best shepherd of all, comes out in the open with his rule, he’ll see that you’ve done it right and commend you lavishly. And you who are younger must follow your leaders. But all of you, leaders and followers alike, are to be down to earth with each other, for—God has had it with the proud, But takes delight in just plain people. [6-7] So be content with who you are, and don’t put on airs. God’s strong hand is on you; he’ll promote you at the right time. Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you.

God bless you and keep you in His care.

Feelings or Faith

Detours on the path

Is it possible you’re right where you’re supposed to be? Perhaps a detour occurred in your life or maybe a health scare, or someone has decided to break off relationship, trust God.

The hardest thing is to rest and know that His plans are greater than yours. Maybe a detour or a change in position is actually a tremendous blessing for the future.

Though our feelings come and go, [God’s] love for us does not.
—C. S. Lewis

So many scriptures support this quote by CS Lewis, feelings are a distraction at times. Here are a few powerful truths from the Bible.

Psalm 136:1-3 MSG
Thank God! He deserves your thanks. His love never quits. Thank the God of all gods, His love never quits. Thank the Lord of all lords. His love never quits.

Psalm 136:23-26 MSG
God remembered us when we were down, His love never quits. Rescued us from the trampling boot, His love never quits. Takes care of everyone in time of need. His love never quits. Thank God, who did it all! His love never quits!

1 John 4 is an amazing reminder of the love of God. Love is the most important commandment in the Bible and yet is the hardest to give to others. Take time to slowly read through this chapter in the message version it’s full of the wisdom.

1 John 4:4-19 MSG
My dear children, you come from God and belong to God. You have already won a big victory over those false teachers, for the Spirit in you is far stronger than anything in the world. These people belong to the Christ-denying world. They talk the world’s language and the world eats it up. But we come from God and belong to God. Anyone who knows God understands us and listens. The person who has nothing to do with God will, of course, not listen to us. This is another test for telling the Spirit of Truth from the spirit of deception. [7-10] My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God. The person who refuses to love doesn’t know the first thing about God, because God is love—so you can’t know him if you don’t love. This is how God showed his love for us: God sent his only Son into the world so we might live through him. This is the kind of love we are talking about—not that we once upon a time loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to clear away our sins and the damage they’ve done to our relationship with God. [11-12] My dear, dear friends, if God loved us like this, we certainly ought to love each other. No one has seen God, ever. But if we love one another, God dwells deeply within us, and his love becomes complete in us—perfect love!

God loves us so much, detours can be an opportunity to grow deeper in love with Him. Detours may be protection from future problems or to redirect our steps to better relationships.

By the Holy Spirit and the giver of life, our Creator God, we can stay on the path that was always our life purpose. Trust Him!!

13-16] This is how we know we’re living steadily and deeply in him, and he in us: He’s given us life from his life, from his very own Spirit. Also, we’ve seen for ourselves and continue to state openly that the Father sent his Son as Savior of the world. Everyone who confesses that Jesus is God’s Son participates continuously in an intimate relationship with God. We know it so well, we’ve embraced it heart and soul, this love that comes from God. [17-18] God is love. When we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us. This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us, so that we’re free of worry on Judgment Day—our standing in the world is identical with Christ’s. There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life—fear of death, fear of judgment—is one not yet fully formed in love. [19] We, though, are going to love—love and be loved. First we were loved, now we love. He loved us first.

I know from experience it’s hard sometimes to let God lead, fear likes to provide obstacles to the beautiful mountain top experience that God wants for us. Fear is a liar, faith in God is the answer and truth.

Today, if you’re struggling to understand, break up in relationships, the career path, the health scare, whatever it may be, ask yourself this question, “God, help me to understand what you are trying to teach me, but more important help me to trust you? Show me the path you want me to take and thank you for giving me the comfort of unconditional love as I seek You for all things in Jesus mighty name amen.”

“Hand of God” is a new song by Todd Galberth (featuring Chandler Moore), it is rich in lyrics that declare we serve a God of love and He has the best plans as He molds our future.

Psalm 37:23-24,29-31 TPT
When YAHWEH delights in how you live your life, he establishes your every step. [24] If they stumble badly they will still survive, for the Lord lifts them up with his hands. [29] The faithful lovers of God will inherit the earth and enjoy every promise of God’s care, dwelling in peace forever. [30] God-lovers make the best counselors. Their words possess wisdom and are right and trustworthy. [31] The ways of God are in their hearts and they won’t swerve from the paths of steadfast righteousness.

Empower us with Courage

Merriam Webster definition of courage: mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty.

Synonyms: fortitude, bravery, intrepidity

What a time to be alive. There are many things that can raise our levels of fear, yet we must be courageous. God is still on the throne. Whether it’s wars, chaos, mass casualty incidents, trials in our families, God never changes.

Courage

These are scriptures that have helped me today. I hope they will bring you to a level of courage that comes from the One who created you, the Alpha and the Omega! He is the God of the heavens and the Earth. The Earth is definitely trembling. Hold onto what always is true, your Father in heaven!!

Consider declaring the scriptures in your home, car or even as you walk in nature! environment you stand.

Empower us, Lord by Your truths! Give us boldness to say aloud even if we are fearful the promises found in Your Word.

“So now, Lord, listen to their threats to harm us. Empower us, as your servants, to speak the word of God freely and courageously. Stretch out your hand of power through us to heal, and to move in signs and wonders by the name of your holy Son, Jesus!” As they prayed the earth shook beneath them, causing the building they were in to tremble. Each one of them was filled with the Holy Spirit, and they proclaimed the word of God with unrestrained boldness. All the believers were one in mind and heart. Selfishness was not a part of their community, for they shared everything they had with one another.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭4‬:‭29‬-‭32‬ ‭TPT‬‬

God is calling His children, even those who have stepped away from Him. Come back to Yahweh! He is gracious! Repent of past sins and get a Do over! He loves You!!

“Who is a merciful God like you? Your grace wipes the slate clean of guilt and pardons the rebellion of the remnant of your people. You don’t hold your anger against us forever, but you delight in showing faithful, tender love. Once more we ask: have tender mercy on us, tread our iniquities under your feet, and hurl all our sins to the bottom of the sea.”
‭‭Micah‬ ‭7‬:‭18‬-‭19‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Be of great courage as a wild horse and run into the future, God already knows what will happen. Stick to Him!

““But it’s not too late,” declares Yahweh. “Come back to me now with all your heart, with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Tearing your clothes in sorrow is not enough— tear open your hearts!” Come back to Yahweh your God, for he is gracious to welcome you home and compassionate to embrace you. Yahweh is slow to anger and so rich in extravagant love for you. He is always ready to forgive and cancel judgment. Who knows if he will not turn around and show pity, leaving behind a blessing. Then you can bring offerings of grain and wine to be presented to Yahweh your God. My land, do not fear, for your restoration has come! Be glad and rejoice, you people, for Yahweh has done marvelous things for you. Children of Zion, be glad! Celebrate the mighty acts of Yahweh your God, for he has given you a teacher of righteousness whose teaching is like the refreshing spring rains. And he will pour down the rains for you, the spring and autumn rains as before. “Then afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on everyone. Your sons and your daughters will boldly prophesy, your elderly will have supernatural dreams, and your youth will experience ecstatic visions.”
‭‭Joel‬ ‭2‬:‭12‬-‭14‬, ‭21‬, ‭23‬, ‭28‬ ‭TPT‬‬

May parents and children return to the Father and their hearts be as one for Gods purpose and plans.

““Keep watching, for I am sending you the prophet Elijah before that great and fearful day of Yahweh arrives. He will return the fathers’ hearts to their children and the children’s hearts to their fathers so that I can come and bless and not strike the land with a curse.””
‭‭Malachi‬ ‭4‬:‭5‬-‭6‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Don’t let pride keep you from His blessings. The time is now, humble yourselves to Jesus and ask His wisdom.

““I, Yahweh, made the earth, formed its contours, and set it in place. Yahweh is my name. I say to you, cry out to me and I will answer you. I will reveal to you great things, guarded secrets that you never could have known.”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭33‬:‭2‬-‭3‬ ‭TPT‬‬
