Stay the course

Whether you are traveling in an ocean or hiking a trail in the mountains, it’s important to remain connected to a compass. A compass can show you where to go. But you have to trust its direction.

I’ve heard it said: that following the Lord is following true North. As the world spins around, the distractions of news, war, potential new viruses, and social media can make our heads spin.

Distractions abound but the LORD is the Alpha and the Omega. He is the El Shaddai, our God who never changes. He’s the same yesterday today and into the future. He knows us from conception.

Jeremiah was one of the prophets of God, he was anxious, felt overwhelmed and not equipped to be a voice for the Lord. And yet God called him to be a prophet of the nations.

““I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” “O Sovereign LORD,” I said, “I can’t speak for you! I’m too young!” The LORD replied, “Don’t say, ‘I’m too young,’ for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you. And don’t be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you. I, the LORD, have spoken!””Jeremiah 1:5-8 NLT

I feel like the Lord laid this scripture on my heart for you. I truly believe the God has great plans for you. I can relate to Jeremiah, can you?

““This is what the LORD says—the LORD who made the earth, who formed and established it, whose name is the LORD: Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come.” Jeremiah 33:2-3 NLT

Seek Jesus it is the best way to have a promised future.

The phrase “stay the course” keeps on being brought to my mind. No matter what we may be experiencing personally, financially, with joy or trial, “we must stay the course fixing our eyes on our Lord and what His Word says”.

The time spent with God will sustain us into the future. It is the one true thing they can direct our lives if we let it.

His word also says that “we are set apart for good things that he had planned a long time ago” (Ephesians 2:8-10). That means we must have trust in the One who created us. Trust takes faith, without seeing the end result. God is rich and mercy and loves us so much. However, we must choose to follow him.

“But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much,”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We must humble ourselves before Jesus and declare our allegiance to God. Jesus is the bridge for that amazing relationship. We get to choose to allow him to direct our lives. It’s His gift not to control us but in love to guide our destiny.

“that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus. God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭5‬-‭10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Call out to Jesus now and He will be your compass, True North. Let His destiny be yours.

Fix your eyes on Jesus. You are set apart for great things, listen to the Voice of God not the idols of culture. Turning off your phone, media and spending quiet time in the Bible is a reset to His plans.

“We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ. For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭NLT‬‬
