Distraction and Lampstands

Will you be ready when Jesus comes? Some prophets believe we are in the end of times. I choose not to live in fear but instead carefully choose who I listen to, in church leadership or online. I want to follow those whose discussions line up with the Bible. I must spend time reading the Bible myself so I can learn Godly wisdom and discern the truth.

Our world of distraction is set on keeping you unsettled, and being like a dog chasing his tail. If we feel fear, panic, dread or uncertainty, we may be even more susceptible to listening to the wrong voice.

Even worse, apathy may lead us to believe we have plenty of time to get wisdom, read the Bible and seek Jesus. This mindset from the devil may be our undoing. It isn’t about being a good person. It is about seeking a relationship with Jesus and growing in our daily life with words and actions that reflect Him. Not perfection but transformation in our time with our Savior.

What is the distraction that keeps you staying away from Jesus? Consider the distraction of the dog in the movie, Upwards. It is like a dog who hears the word Squirrell and runs into the street instead of staying safe.

Noise, more noise, people, media, the hustle of life, looking at the stock market, trying to make ends meet, what a distraction. It can be the comparison trap whether you are a child, teen, young adult, or any age. We can take the bait. A trap of distraction is just a screenshot away.

But when Jesus comes, will you be ready? Do you think you still have time? Scripture tells us, “Jesus knows the number of our days, but no one knows when Jesus will come”.

Matthew 25:1-13 NLT
“Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten bridesmaids who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. [2] Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. [3] The five who were foolish didn’t take enough olive oil for their lamps, [4] but the other five were wise enough to take along extra oil. [5] When the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep. [6] “At midnight they were roused by the shout, ‘Look, the bridegroom is coming! Come out and meet him!’ [7] “All the bridesmaids got up and prepared their lamps. [8] Then the five foolish ones asked the others, ‘Please give us some of your oil because our lamps are going out.’ [9] “But the others replied, ‘We don’t have enough for all of us. Go to a shop and buy some for yourselves.’ [10] “But while they were gone to buy oil, the bridegroom came. Then those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was locked. [11] Later, when the other five bridesmaids returned, they stood outside, calling, ‘Lord! Lord! Open the door for us!’ [12] “But he called back, ‘Believe me, I don’t know you!’ [13] “So you, too, must keep watch! For you do not know the day or hour of my return.

Have you ever heard of the 10 Bridesmaids? Will you be one of the five with ready lamps or not? This story in scripture may bring a feeling of conviction. I know it did for me. Conviction isn’t bad, because it can prompt you to change to a better future, even more, an eternal future with Jesus. I need a poke on occasion, how about you?

Merriam Webster’s definition of conviction: the act of convincing a person of error or of compelling the admission of truth. A conviction can lead to transformation, condemnation comes from the devil.

So on those days when your distraction, “squirrel”, seems to chitter loudly, reconsider your position. Seek first Jesus, spend time reading His Word, the Bible, accept Jesus as Savior, believe He is Lord, and let Him be the Lord of your life. James or Matthew are great places to start and be ready with your oil and lamp.

1 Thessalonians 3:11-13 MSG
May God our Father himself and our Master Jesus clear the road to you! And may the Master pour on the love so it fills your lives and splashes over on everyone around you, just as it does from us to you. May you be infused with strength and purity, filled with confidence in the presence of God our Father when our Master Jesus arrives with all his followers.

Break the cycle, Armor Up!

Has anyone else witnessed increased rage behavior? Lately, I have been feeling more oppression, conflicts, unrest, and lack of understanding in community and personally, it is not just politically. Yes, it feels like spiritual warfare is ramping up.

The enemy of our soul wants us to live in fear and take our eyes off the Creator of the universe and everything good in it. The pressure cooker of relationship challenges or watching from the sidelines conflicts between children to young adults can exhaust. The devil is the leader of destruction, he wants to steal, kill and destroy each person created in the Image of God. If he can cause us to hate each other because of rejection, he brings on darkness.

I can almost hear the gnashing of teeth and furious temper tantrum of a two year old that didn’t get its’ toy. The raging person may be child, teen, young adult or seasoned one. This mindset of control comes from the enemy. No one should demand a relationship and rule in fear. This is unhealthy and those patterns must be broken. It can be the beginning of emotional abuse leading to domestic violence. Using force or coercion encourages the predator to get more controlling.

It is at these times when I feel this upside down world of war, I must stand firm in my faith in Jesus! Our youth, teens and young adults have had a marred few years in Covid lockdown. It hasn’t only been isolation for supposed community health sake but a mental health nightmare. We have all been effected in someway, even the most stable in our peer groups.

I believe our children need our input even more today. When we show healthy responses in disappointment, we are reminded we don’t do life alone but have each other to lift up the power of Jesus and the Holy Spirit to fight with His mighty army against the enemies schemes.

Psalm 103:19-22 NLT [19] The LORD has made the heavens his throne; from there he rules over everything. [20] Praise the LORD, you angels, you mighty ones who carry out his plans, listening for each of his commands. [21] Yes, praise the LORD, you armies of angels who serve him and do his will! [22] Praise the LORD, everything he has created, everything in all his kingdom. Let all that I am praise the LORD.

Teaching our children to stand firm in their faith, listen without talking, asking questions to clarify if they want help can be a great start. We want our kids to feel comfortable seeking parents or friends for help. Our kids need to know we are a safe place. We have to reflect self control like Jesus. Together, We can bring our concerns before God and He will provide His army along with wisdom. Silence allows violence. Sharing challenges can break the isolation predators use to trap another person and the unhealthy patterns can be broken in community.

I have on my battle armor. It comes from the Lord. This battle gear must be put on daily and at times I must speak aloud each part. Ephesians 6 describes the Armor of God, every morning I pray this over my family. There have been days I prayed this scripture over my kids at night as they slept or holding their hands while the battle raged. You can place your child’s name wherever appropriate in the scripture below.

Ephesians 6:11-18 NLT
[11] Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. [12] For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. [13] Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. [14] Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. [15] For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. [16] In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. [17] Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. [18] Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

Jesus is the only hope for each of us. Get on the Armor of God. Just like in an airplane, put on your armor first, then show your kids how to put on theirs. Take a deep breath that comes from God. Our continued prayers and communication with the Holy Spirit are power beyond our human understanding. There is a battle going on in the supernatural but in the end Jesus wins.

Romans 5:3-5 NLT [3] We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. [4] And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. [5] And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

He is Not done yet!!

The race is on!! Photo credit by Boom (Pexels.com)

Did you know that God is not done yet? That He wants to be your refuge and He is your provider if you will let him? The more I seek to know Him the more amazed I am and how He is providing.

He’s not done yet. Just as he’s not done with me, He is not done with you! Isn’t that an amazing thought you have time to be transformed into the image of Jesus! Let God transform you and be amazed!

Psalm 16:1-11 NLT
[1] Keep me safe, O God, for I have come to you for refuge. [2] I said to the LORD, “You are my Master! Every good thing I have comes from you.” [3] The godly people in the land are my true heroes! I take pleasure in them! [4] Troubles multiply for those who chase after other gods. I will not take part in their sacrifices of blood or even speak the names of their gods. [5] LORD, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine. [6] The land you have given me is a pleasant land. What a wonderful inheritance! [7] I will bless the LORD who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. [8] I know the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. [9] No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice. My body rests in safety. [10] For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave. [11] You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.

I was blessed to hear the song on the radio today and it really spoke to me. Not done yet by Vertical Worship, what a great reminder.

Be blessed today as you let Jesus finish the work He starts.

Philippians 1:6 NLT
[6] And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

Leaping Calves

Pain whether emotional, physical, psychological and spiritual can be conquered when we lean into Jesus and His healing. We all have our mountains and valleys.

One leap at a time, ladies and gentleman. One relationship can change the world, Jesus came to do just that, change the world.

Our spirit man, soul, must reach for His Holy Spirit. Let the transformation begin.

Malachi 4:2 NLT
[2] “But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture.

Has the world filled you with eternal peace or joy? What are you waiting for, the time is now? I don’t have the answers but I am learning He ( Jesus, Father God and the Holy Spirit) does.

John 3:16-21 NLT
[16] “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. [17] God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. [18] “There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son. [19] And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. [20] All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. [21] But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.”

On Guard

We are in a battle, every day, we are in the fight for our lives. Do we listen and march to public opinion or discern with the Lord’s help from which voice to listen?

We are given our brains for a reason. We have our ability to hear with two ears, see with two eyes, and think with an open mind. The enemy knows we want to have a life of peace and as a result , we may choose to let others guide our truths. This mindset may just destroy our free will, our sense of peace and our own voice.

We may feel fear or anxiety, it’s a normal human emotion especially at these times. But we don’t have to stay in fear or anxiety. Joshua 1:9 is one of my favorite scriptures. “Be strong and courageous, do not fear, for the Lord your God is with you”. There is an alternative emotion, hope in the trial and endurance on the journey. Which emotion will you choose?

The Bible is full of reminders to fix our eyes on Jesus, to be transformed by the renewing of our mind that is connected to our Creator God.

Scripture meditations: Matthew 10:26-33,40-42 MSG
[26-27] “Don’t be intimidated. Eventually everything is going to be out in the open, and everyone will know how things really are. So don’t hesitate to go public now. [28] “Don’t be bluffed into silence by the threats of bullies. There’s nothing they can do to your soul, your core being. Save your fear for God, who holds your entire life-body and soul-in his hands. [29-31] “What’s the price of a pet canary? Some loose change, right? And God cares what happens to it even more than you do. He pays even greater attention to you, down to the last detail-even numbering the hairs on your head! So don’t be intimidated by all this bully talk. You’re worth more than a million canaries. [32-33] “Stand up for me against world opinion and I’ll stand up for you before my Father in heaven. If you turn tail and run, do you think I’ll cover for you? [40-42] “We are intimately linked in this harvest work. Anyone who accepts what you do, accepts me, the One who sent you. Anyone who accepts what I do accepts my Father, who sent me. Accepting a messenger of God is as good as being God’s messenger. Accepting someone’s help is as good as giving someone help. This is a large work I’ve called you into, but don’t be overwhelmed by it. It’s best to start small. Give a cool cup of water to someone who is thirsty, for instance. The smallest act of giving or receiving makes you a true apprentice. You won’t lose out on a thing.”

We don’t walk this world alone unless we choose to ignore the spiritual stirrings of our soul which started at our conception. I believe that scientist have observed a spark of light as the sperm and egg meet in conception. This must be our Father God and Creator, bringing His light to our beginnings.

Psalm 139:13-16 MSG
[13-16] Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother’s womb. I thank you, High God-you’re breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! I worship in adoration-what a creation! You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, The days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day.

There is a still voice that brings us wisdom, hope, and instruction, are we allowing our minds to pause and hear our God? Or is the loud opinions of the world, in media, news, music and social media crowing out His voice?

I used to be uncomfortable with silence, quiet times seemed to bring anxiety and unrest. However, the more I make time to listen for my Fathers voice, in the Bible, in solid Godly examples of friends willin to share their brokenness and turning to God. I am in awe, Jesus ( our Father God, the Holy Spirit) speaks.

Stand firm at this current time, be strong in Him, seek His Words in scripture, and be blown away at how it can transform your life.

He’s the Potter

Photo by Belle Co on Pexels.com

Isaiah 64:8-9 NLT
[8] And yet, O LORD, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are the potter. We all are formed by your hand. [9] Don’t be so angry with us, LORD. Please don’t remember our sins forever. Look at us, we pray, and see that we are all your people.

We’re living in a timeframe where our culture wants us to choose death over life. The Creator of Life, our God made life; life for each individual with a purpose. Ephesians 2: 8 -10 reminds us, that we, each human, are His masterpiece created for something amazing, and yet our culture confuses this purpose with a prompt to put our needs before the amazing gift of life. Forgive us, Lord, for being callous about the right to choose ( life or death) for a child in the womb.

There are many of us called to be parents through adoption and it is an amazing gift! Making a difference in the life of a child with love, compassion, teaching, and discovery of the amazing world is precious. I loved the times my kids asked questions about nature, “where do thunder and lightning come from?” butterflies, “How does that pretty butterfly sleep in the cocoon?”, and even a praying mantis, ” it looks so weird, Mom, will it pinch me?”. It gave me the blessing of slowing down and sharing awe at the Creator’s unique bugs, animals, skies, birds, and environments. Being a mom has been a true honor; one that I don’t take lightly, I love their birthmothers, and I treasure our three blessings from God.

I see confusion, anxiety, and fear in the minds of young adults and teens because of the recent decisions of Roe v. Wade. God wants us to choose Him, He wants us to choose life and to live a life of abundance. He wants us to decide to follow His instructions and value life.

I have heard, “It is so hard to be pro-life around friends or family?” I know people who regret their abortions due to medical unhealthy babies and rape. (There can be emotional and spiritual healing from post-abortive personal and group programs). God can use the hard experiences of our lives for teaching. A child can be a messenger for God with an amazing voice that can change the world. It is an emotionally charged topic. It is not a problem for our times alone but occurred thousands of years ago.

Even in the Bible, multiple situations of the battle of life and death are discussed. Genesis; the first book of the Bible tells us the story of Moses, who was saved from death by the Pharoah when his own daughter found the baby Moses floating in a basket on the river. It is a story of adoption and reconciliation. Moses rose to be God’s leader of the Israelites, with his birth family when he was an adult. His physical environment and biological status were the stepping stones to God’s purpose in Moses’ life. When we step out of the way, the Lord can make amazing things out of hard times.

Life is tough and has challenges, some as a consequence of our sins and some because of the evil in our world. Jesus said, (John 16:33) “in this world, you will have trouble but I’ve overcome the world”. God said He would never leave or forsake us.

Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

We have to love like Jesus and that means supporting people who are in an unplanned pregnancy that means loving a single parent by providing tangible resources, time, financial support; perhaps babysitting capabilities, or even taking them out to eat. Be open to whatever it is that the Lord lays on your heart.

But God wants us to love his people. He wants us to value the life of each individual created in the image of Him. He is the king of my heart. He wants to be the king of yours. The question is will you let Him? He sees all things.

The enemy ( Satan) doesn’t want you to choose life instead he wants you to choose death which brings along with it anxiety, shame, guilt, depression, along with anger, and can lead to cycles of unhealthy decisions and relationships. Mental Health and substance abuse can be a way of trying to cope with regret and sadness. I have seen this personally in others that I love.

Joy the Lord is our strength. I think our walk with Jesus can provide us with amazing miracles and opportunities around us when we choose life. We learn to trust God as our provider and our walk with Jesus gets stronger. It is trusting Him over our own abilities. For our family, having semiopen or open communication by phone, in correspondences: letters, email, and even in person for family gatherings has been a mingling of two sets of families. Our goal is to love our child as the Lord would guide our families.

There’s a song from Kutless: “The King of my Heart”, that really spoke to me this morning. May the lyrics wash over you like Living Water, Peace giving conformations that God is in the business of life, not death. Let Him be the wind beneath your sails, the anchor in the waves because He’s waiting for you to let Him.

King of my Heart by Kutless

He is good and He will never let you down when you trust Him for your life and the lives of your family! There is no other source to hold onto but God!

Love not Hate

Today, the United States Supreme Court reversed a law that resulted in the murder of millions of innocent babies for 50 years. I see the enemy in …

A Day to Rejoice & Arise

I am reposting this well said blog from Temi, founder of Christian Mommas, fellow Sister in Christ and fellow prayer warrior for life.

Life Choices-Longmont Pregnancy Medical Clinic was added to the list of terror hits post the Roe v Wade Supreme Court decision from last week. It feels like an attack on all women, babies, and families. Early Saturday morning, Life Choices -Longmont was vandalized and has fire damage. It is under investigation by the FBI. It feels like a violation.

I had served as the Nurse Center Director of Life Choices and Advocate counselor for 5 plus years. We served clients and community with the love of Jesus, we watched and listened as women came in unplanned pregnancies or families in poverty came needing early prenatal help with ultrasounds, community resources such as clothing for kids and mom, diapers, formula, other necessities and a loving, listening ear to hear their hurts and love. If a women needed post-abortive counseling, it was provided, all services were free. Businesses, individuals, and churches financially supported this amazing clinic.

I was tearful at times hearing many life stories, there was never coercion. We loved these clients as a sister would, and shared community contacts, directed people to places for food, electricity vouchers, places to gather with other women, churches that loved like Jesus.( Yes, they are out there despite the loud voices who don’t believe it.)

I had forged amazing Sister relationships with clients who returned to share life. It was an amazing season in my life of giving without judgment women, and honoring families. It was and is a privilege to give all, heart, time, resources, and compassion.

My question: How is it possible that some feel trying to destroy Christ loving, serving, places of love is the right answer? When others destroy the places that serve the community it is not pro women, it is evil.

We each have an opportunity to help those in crisis pregnancies, families need to see Jesus in our actions not just words. Maybe now is the time to invest in time for those who need a hand. Where can you make a difference in love? You may save a life, mom, and child.

I just wanted to share a personal perspective. We are all broken sinners in need of a Savior who gives grace, mercy and love even if we don’t feel deserving. God is love not hate.

If you think about Life Choices or any other clinic that serves as Jesus today, lift up a moment of prayer, gratitude and know these places are around. As God wills they will survive.

Impossible?

God is the God of the impossible. Our human mind can’t fathom how our future can come together. We see the future through the eyes of the past, it jades our belief that God can do a mighty thing with our broken pieces. Our disappointments in people, circumstances, financial status and consequences for impulsive choices leave us looking down instead of up to Jesus.

2 Corinthians 1:3-7 MSG [3-5] All praise to the God and Father of our Master, Jesus the Messiah! Father of all mercy! God of all healing counsel! He comes alongside us when we go through hard times, and before you know it, he brings us alongside someone else who is going through hard times so that we can be there for that person just as God was there for us. We have plenty of hard times that come from following the Messiah, but no more so than the good times of his healing comfort-we get a full measure of that, too. [6-7] When we suffer for Jesus, it works out for your healing and salvation. If we are treated well, given a helping hand and encouraging word, that also works to your benefit, spurring you on, face forward, unflinching. Your hard times are also our hard times. When we see that you’re just as willing to endure the hard times as to enjoy the good times, we know you’re going to make it, no doubt about it.

The enemy is pleased when we stop our forward motion in walking with Jesus. He practically bets on the fact we will not succeed. He places rocks in the path of our future. When we look down we can’t see forward to the sun that is illuminating the path, we just see the rocks, the tree roots, and the boulders getting bigger. We may feel ready to drown in the overflowing waters of despair.

It seems like an impossible future. But who is talking that smack into your head? The Father of Lies, the devil, of course!

“Turn off that frequency, cover your ears, and turn on the new solid foundation of truth, the Word of God”, this is what He says, Jesus, the One who really knows the end from the beginning.

I was amazed as I read another daily devotion, from The Book of Mysteries, by Jonathan Cahn, yesterday. He described these Hebrew words: Olam: means everything you see, the creation, the universe, and Davar: means the Word ( God’s). The setting was the discipleship of teacher to student, “Which is greater, the Olam or the Davar?” The student initially replies, “the Olam because it’s the universe”, however, the student was shown the truth in scripture by his teacher. “Psalms tells us: For He spoke, and it came into existence, He commanded, and it was established. Hebrews and John 1 confirm the fact the Word came before the universe was formed”.

Psalm 33: 6 – 9 By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
their starry host by the breath of his mouth.
He gathers the waters of the sea into jars;
he puts the deep into storehouses.
Let all the earth fear the Lord;
let all the people of the world revere him.
For he spoke, and it came to be;
he commanded, and it stood firm.

Hebrews 11: 1 – 3 also shares:

11 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

The next scripture is from John 1, the Word came first and the world came second.

John 1: 1 – 5 In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

The Bible is the Word of God, it is truly over all things in the universe. I hope that encourages you to remember we are not to be led by circumstances and events in our life, the world changes but God’s Word never does. Despite what we see, we must stand on the Word.

Let the Davar direct your steps. Meditate on His Word, and drown out the lies that may be filling your mind. It takes time but you can do it with God’s help.

Here are a few of my favorite scriptures: Isaiah 40, Zephaniah 3:17 (He delights over you), Jeremiah 29:11, Deuteronomy 31:6, 8

Hens and Chicks

The queens of the coop

It’s hard to believe I used to be a big city girl. As I sit watching the integration of our white adult leghorn hens and a new batch of chickens, should I say chicks, I am mesmerized.

There really is such a thing as the pecking order. Each particular group of chickens: one set of six adults and one set of seven varieties of chicks, has their own pecking order.

The fabulous 7 chicks and buff Orington photos by Mary Mesikapp

There’s a big white Leghorn chicken, the dominant one, and there are the rest that follow. It really is survival of the fittest. There’s always got to be the leader and the rest are followers. That’s what makes a good coop.

Just like in parenting or life, the leaders job is to protect and keep the group moving especially in times of predatory behavior. Yes, we have fox, coyotes, hawks, and, of course, the dreaded huge great horned owls. Spring into summertime can bring black bear.

In our lives, our homes, and society, there are leaders and there are followers. As a parent, I do my best to guide my chicks. I know one leader that doesn’t change though, his name is Jesus? His wisdom is solid and never changes in over 2000 years.

Scripture tells us Jesus grieved over Jerusalem as he watched their continual turning from his ways and from godly wisdom. He even described it as despair and wanting to gather together these chicks under his wings for protection. Watching my chickens makes me imagine Jesus must grieve over some current events, however, He wants people to make the free will choice to follow Him.

Matthew 23:37-39 NLT. [37] “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me. [38] And now, look, your house is abandoned and desolate. [39] For I tell you this, you will never see me again until you say, ‘Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the LORD!'”

You see in those times Jesus came and they believed he would be their King and his people didn’t know him. The Pharisees were threatened by His presence, and their communication to the people spoke hate and Jesus was crucified. He came to lay down His life for us all, sinners. His description of hen to chicks is heartfelt.

The Jewish people at that time thought he was going to save them in a human way. Jesus will come again.

Revelation 1:4-8 NLT
[4] This letter is from John to the seven churches in the province of Asia. Grace and peace to you from the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come; from the sevenfold Spirit before his throne; [5] and from Jesus Christ. He is the faithful witness to these things, the first to rise from the dead, and the ruler of all the kings of the world. All glory to him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by shedding his blood for us. [6] He has made us a Kingdom of priests for God his Father. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen. [7] Look! He comes with the clouds of heaven. And everyone will see him- even those who pierced him. And all the nations of the world will mourn for him. Yes! Amen! [8] “I am the Alpha and the Omega-the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come-the Almighty One.”

I know this is a serious blog post for serious times. Jesus knows the timeline of all things and what the future holds. Crazy times lead me to seek His wisdom through the book of Revelation. As parents, we must share what we learn from God so our children learn who to follow.

I am just a baby chick, however, I want to follow the lead Hen, the leader of my life, Jesus! Because I can’t imagine following anything else.

Persevere

Days can be hard. We have no idea what is going to happen next. The Texas shooting is so surreal, my heart and prayers are with the parents, families, town, and anyone who lost a loved one. Stories will be coming out. I imagine the teachers were heroes as human shields. Texas you are not alone, the entire country is with you.

I remember the Columbine high school shooting over 22 years ago, I was working at the Level 1 trauma center in Denver at that time. I was speaking at the other Littleton High school in the auditorium. It was the beginning of this mess. Children should feel safe and protected.

My words are few in this blog post except to say, We need Jesus! We need love, not rage. We need compassion, not destruction. But there is a hope to hold onto when days seem dark.

There will be brighter days, we must hold onto Jesus and believe He has the beginning and the ending figured out. He is the Alpha and the Omega. He is the beginning and the end. We grieve with Texas as I believe the Father in heaven does.

Revelation 1:8  “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Matthew 11:28 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Here’s a song to encourage you, “Just As Good” by Chris Renzema and Ellie Holcomb. Be blessed and hug your family members a little tighter.
